Peacocks in Pittencrieff Park

Peacock Sanctuary

The Peacocks

Each Bird has a name and individual behaviours. We use ID bands with colour coding so we can quickly identify each Bird.

History

Since 1905 the peafowl have been family residents of Pittencrieff Park when they were introduced to their new environment by Henry Beveridge upon his return from India. In 1907 they were granted the Constitutional Status of having the “Freedom of the City”.
